Abu Dhabi Encounters
The Capital of Ambition
Abu Dhabi is a city where Arabian heritage meets bold modern ambition. From majestic mosques and memorials to futuristic museums and cultural districts, the UAE's capital combines tradition, innovation and striking architecture while steadily transforming itself into a global centre for culture and ideas.
Abu Dhabi Airport
Zayed International Airport is one of the Middle East's most advanced aviation hubs, reflecting Abu Dhabi's global ambitions. Its vast new Terminal A combines cutting-edge technology, biometric systems and striking dune-inspired architecture capable of handling millions of passengers annually.
Abu Dhabi Corniche
Stretching along the city's waterfront, the Abu Dhabi Corniche combines beaches, landscaped gardens, cycle paths and public spaces beside the Arabian Gulf. Much of the area was reclaimed from the sea, creating one of the region's most impressive urban promenades.
Tolerance calls upon people to respect others across divisions of race, religion, nationality and geographical boundaries.
Wahat Al Karama
Wahat Al Karama, meaning Oasis of Dignity, is a moving national memorial honouring Emiratis who died serving their country. Opposite the Grand Mosque, its leaning pillars, reflective pools and Pavilion of Honour symbolise unity, sacrifice, remembrance and shared humanity.
Sheikh Zayed Mosque
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the world's most breathtaking Islamic landmarks, welcoming visitors of every faith. Built from white marble and adorned with vast chandeliers, intricate carvings and reflective pools, it represents unity, faith and cultural openness.
Sheikh Zayed Bridge
Designed by the legendary architect Zaha Hadid, the Sheikh Zayed Bridge links Abu Dhabi Island with the mainland. Its flowing wave-like structure was inspired by desert sand dunes, creating one of the UAE's most distinctive and recognisable engineering landmarks.
The Abrahamic Family House
The Abrahamic Family House is a remarkable interfaith complex bringing together a mosque, church and synagogue within one shared architectural space. Opened in 2023 on Saadiyat Island, it symbolises dialogue, coexistence and mutual respect between the Abrahamic religions.
The Louvre
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is the Arab world's first universal museum, celebrating humanity's shared artistic and cultural achievements. Beneath its spectacular floating dome, galleries display works spanning thousands of years, connecting civilisations and traditions across continents and historical periods.
The Saadiyat Cultural District
The Saadiyat Cultural District is Abu Dhabi's ambitious vision for a global centre of art, education and culture. Already home to the Louvre and Abrahamic Family House, the district will eventually include the Guggenheim, Zayed National Museum and major performing arts venues.
