The Houses of Parliament
Beyond Big Ben
Behind the world-famous clock tower lies one of Britain's greatest historic treasures. Discover magnificent medieval halls, spectacular Victorian interiors and the chambers where history is made, as nearly a thousand years of politics, pageantry and architecture come vividly to life.
Westminster Hall
The oldest part of the Palace, Westminster Hall has witnessed over 900 years of British history. Its breathtaking medieval hammerbeam roof is an engineering masterpiece, while coronation banquets, state trials and lying-in-state ceremonies have all taken place beneath it.
St Stephen's Hall
Built on the site of the former House of Commons, St Stephen's Hall celebrates Britain's parliamentary heritage with magnificent statues, murals and stained glass. Bronze floor plaques even mark where historic debates once took place before the 1834 fire.
Nine centuries of British history under one roof — from banquet halls to gilded thrones and parliamentary heritage.
Members' Lobby
Hidden from most visitors, Members' Lobby is the working heart of the House of Commons. Here MPs meet, discuss legislation and enter the Division Lobbies to cast their votes, continuing parliamentary traditions that have endured for generations.
House of Commons Chamber
The famous green benches are where elected MPs debate laws, challenge the Government and represent their constituents. Smaller than most expect, the chamber has witnessed countless historic speeches, Prime Minister's Questions and defining moments in Britain's political history.
Central Lobby
The spectacular octagonal Central Lobby forms the symbolic heart of Parliament. Beneath its magnificent vaulted ceiling, richly decorated with mosaics and gilded stonework, visitors, MPs and peers cross paths in what is often called the crossroads of British democracy.
Peers' Lobby
Elegant and richly decorated, Peers' Lobby is the principal entrance to the House of Lords. It serves as both a meeting place for peers and an impressive transition between Parliament's public spaces and its ceremonial upper chamber.
House of Lords Chamber
With its red benches, gilded throne and famous Woolsack, the House of Lords Chamber is one of the world's finest legislative interiors. Here peers scrutinise legislation while centuries of royal ceremony and constitutional tradition continue side by side.
